Felicity West was born in Auckland in 1945 and trained at Elam
School of Fine Arts in the 1960's. She has had a prolific career as
a printmaker, exhibiting both internationally and within New
Zealand, and working with psychodrama and related art therapies.
West has lectured in printmaking at the ASA and AUT art schools for
many years, and has lived in Helensville since 1969.
West works in both oil painting and etching, and the West Coast
environment - with its windswept landscapes, tidal flats and the
shifting sands of the Kaipara - has long been the core of her work.
It is through the dramatic skylines and the harmonious forms of
these landscapes that West communicates the strength and
timelessness of her environment to the viewer.
