Judy Higham is an Auckland painter who had her early art
training at Elam School of Fine Art, followed by six years of study
with the late Dame Louise Henderson. Her work was first shown in
1973 with paintings hung at the NZ Academy of Fine Arts, National
Gallery, Wellington, Hamilton, Rotorua and Auckland. She was a
working member of the Auckland Society of Arts
and her works were regularly selected for members showings and
exhibitions. She won the Bledisloe Medal for landscape painting in
1992. Higham is currently a member of Northart and works mainly in
acrylic, continuing to extend her ideas in gestural abstract
expressionism.
