Robyn Gibson was born in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and gained a
Bachelor of Fine Arts with High Distinction from Melbourne's La
Trobe University.
Describing her themes as quirky, Gibson says her work reflects a
unique approach to the formation of ideas on canvas. She often
includes subject matter of everyday use; these objects are
simplistic and contrast with marks or ambiguities that are more
thought provoking.
'I am often cryptic in my intention and challenge the viewer to
interpret space, object and emotion, to search for relationships
between the obvious and abstraction.'
Gibson's work is currently held in numerous private collections
throughout New Zealand and Australia and her 2006 work The
Tuatua Gatherers was awarded the highly visible cover of the
Northland White Pages for 2007.
