Inspired in 2003, by a well known artist, who lived next door, Carol Hollingshead was introduced to the theories and techniques of the artist. Attending a few studio classes, self taught Carol enjoys the freedom of expression with no sets 'rules' learnt and finds that her style is a visual diary of personal endeavours and daily occurrences. Carol investigated the gesture of many impressionists works and creates a style of abstraction that grows with more experience.

"My own work could be taken as several different artists as it is quite varied. It all depends on where the work leads me on the day. I am a very visual person. I love colour, I love balance, I love to paint, and it helps me to unwind. I want people to get a lot of pleasure from my work and to feel the freedom within. They are created with a lot of passion and I want my work to make people happy."

Carol has shown in many group shows and had her first successful solo exhibition in 2015 in Auckland. Carol continues to paint in her home studio.
