In her exploration of colour and form, Pamela Tinning hopes to engage her viewer in an emotional experience. Evocative and dreamlike, her cloudscapes are each unique in form and composition, while her abstract work has a bold sense of movement.
Tinning, who worked as a hairstylist for 20 years at some of New Zealand's top salons, has been painting for 12. Primarily self-taught, her love for the medium has grown into a full time passion.
More recently, Tinning has broadened her portfolio to encompass photographic commissions. Working mostly in black and white, she opts to take a backseat role - observing rather than directing - and captures special moments because of it.
Tinning's creative approach is methodical, detailed and exercised in solitude. However, though precise in her technique, she also allows room to feel - both in her construction of a work, and in the viewer's experience of it.
